What is Myofascial Release?

Myofascial release is a technique that releases or removes tension, tightness and stiffness in your body through massage and compression. It is an effective method that assists in you regaining the healthy flexibility and movement necessary to live an active, pain-free life.

What is Fascia?

Think of fascia as a web wrapped around your muscles, nerves and blood vessels found throughout your entire body. It binds and holds these parts together. Without the support of fascia then your entire body is out of sorts. It is considered a vital part of your well-being.

When the fascia becomes tight and unhealthy, your daily living and activities are affected. This can happen when your body performs repetitive movements for long periods of time. Running, sporting injuries, weight training, jumping and hiking can all cause the fascia to tighten over time.

This then impacts your entire life. Sitting at your computer at work becomes a stressful situation. It strains your entire body. You feel your shoulders, upper back and neck tighten and pull. Alternatively, when trying to move about freely for sports and daily activities, it suddenly becomes a chore. Your body’s natural form changes into a continuously painful state, forcing you to live with pain on a daily basis.

Myofascial release attacks this issue and keeps you moving freely. To find out more, call us today. We can help you live without feeling a constant strain, tightness and pain. Stop suffering today and learn about how myofascial release and deep tissue massage help you live a better life.

Massage Therapy Etiquette 101

When booking a massage therapy session it is important to leave your appointment feeling refreshed, pain-free and happy to return.  Be sure these positive results occur by learning about these massage therapy etiquette tips.

Look for a Professional, Clean, Comfortable Environment

For any form of massage therapy, including sports massage to be effective find a relaxing, professional and comfortable setting.  You want to be sure it is a place where experienced, trained and certified specialists practice.  The setting is a muscle sanctuary that enhances the body´s healing process.  If it is located in a noisy office area then the shoulders, back and legs may tense up finding it difficult to release negative toxins found throughout your body.  As a result, the lack of circulation and blood flow makes the knots you came to receive treatment upon worse.  Finding the right place is essential to your healing process.

Clothing Optional is Up to You!

Unless your therapist states that clothing is optional then wear comfortable, loose-fitted clothing the therapist can work around.  At this point, if you are not comfortable enough with your therapist to decide for yourself if you wish to be clothed or not then you may wish to communicate this with your therapist.  Not all therapists are created equal.  If you do not get along with one then there is no harm to switching to someone else in that same office. To learn more about what to expect with your massage therapy session, call Eclipse Wellness today!

How to Choose a Massage Therapist

Not every massage therapist is created equal; thus, finding the right one to match your needs is key to getting the most out of your session.  If you need a deep tissue massage then search for someone who specializes in such.  Here are a few other tips to help you discover the right specialist for you.

Ask About Training and Education

Find out what type of educational background he/she has.  Ask about certifications.  Inquiring about such things is not intrusive.  It is great to learn how many years of experience he/she has, what type of massage he/she does best and how many other clients he/she has dealt with that have the same pain, soreness and/or tension as you.  All of these factors help you receive the most effective treatment.

Is Your Specialist a Good Communicator?

Communication is important during a massage therapy treatment.  The specialist needs to know about your problem areas.  Your specialist should be checking with you about the pressure during the session.  Is it too light or too hard?  Is he/she telling you what to expect before, during and after your appointment?  Are there any after-care instructions that need to be provided?  Communication skills are vital in this industry.  It ensures you walk away with excellent results. Sports Massage 101: What You Need to Know about Sports Massage

Eclipse Wellness Houston Sports Massage Therapy

The majority of sports injuries occur from repetitive wear and tear on the body. The pain may not occur at the initial moment of deterioration. This is different than when a person falls down the stairs. The pain and injury appears and is felt immediately. But with sports, it builds over time throughout someone participating in a particular activity, including basketball, golf, marathon training, running and more. Sports massage is designed to heal this type of injury and facilitate rehabilitation.

Benefits of Sports Massage

A sports massage is customized to prevent sports injuries, improve performance level, keep muscles flexible, and reduce negative side effects from over doing it at the gym or in the game. It decreases the amount of stiffness and soreness felt during those extremely hard and long workouts. It keeps your body healthy so there is little to no downtime in-between workouts, practice and games.

When you are working out and participating in sporting activities while your muscles ache, it shifts your body’s movement. It causes an imbalance not present before resulting in an affected performance. It could take away from your training and competing abilities. Instead of putting up with discomfort, fatigue, swelling, aches and pains from a sports injury, call one of our sports massage or trigger point therapy specialists. He/she will be able to restore balance of the musculoskeletal system and release tension through the process. To find out more about what Eclipse Wellness can do for you, call us today!

Neuromuscular Therapy Benefits

Eclipse Wellness Houston - Neuromuscular Therapy Benefits
Eclipse Wellness Houston – Neuromuscular Therapy Benefits

Working long days at the office to make-up for being gone for the holidays takes a toll on our body.  The stress endured causes aches, pains, and strains throughout.  Muscles become stiff.  Movement is limited.  You feel it all over.  Even if you aren’t working, the constant pressure built up from holiday preparation and events becomes unbearable.  People try to find cures, such as taken painkillers.  But that is only a short-term solution.  Neuromuscular therapy is the lasting answer.

Massage Therapy Increases Mobility

When you stress over daily activities, such as paying bills, work, and family your body reacts in a negative manner.  Your neck does not move with such ease as before.  You find yourself in a constant ball of tension. Massage therapy resolves this issue.  It relieves the pain, which in return allows you to move more freely.  You do not have to strain to turn your head.  It brings back mobility that was otherwise constrained.  This is an asset to improving your quality of health.

Neuromuscular Therapy Relieves Mental Tension

Removing the center of your problems supplies you with the liberty to think and act without constant worry.  When you suffer from horrible shoulder pain, everything else that may occur is magnified.  Now imagine interacting at work and home without feeling any physical anguish.  Living with pain, your mind is consumed with it.  Without it, you are free to concentrate clearly.  Your work productivity improves, and your interaction with the family becomes relaxed.  You are able to focus on the task at-hand executing personal and career responsibilities successfully. To find out more about the benefits of neuromuscular therapy, talk to one of our neuromuscular therapists today!

How to Find a Reputable Neuromuscular Therapist in Houston

Reputable Neuromuscular Therapist in Houston
Eclipse Wellness Houston – Neuromuscular Therapist

Looking for a neuromuscular therapist in Houston is overwhelming. It is difficult to distinguish reputable, experienced, and knowledgeable therapists from the rest.  There are people who claim to understand the treatment, but, in actuality, they have no clue.  To help ensure you find the right massage therapist, here are the top three components to look for.

Check for Updated Licenses

Massage therapy changes over time.  Those who practice it need to remain informed on the latest techniques, lessons and treatments.  If the therapist you select has an expired license, then you may want to think twice about booking an appointment with him/her.  This could be a sign of someone who lacks the proper skills and knowledge causing further damage to your painful, strained muscles.

Inquire about Client After-Care and At-Home Exercise

Seeing your massage therapist is essential to the healing process, but the care does not come to a halt when the session is over.  A knowledgeable therapist provides the client with a take home care guide.  Generally, this includes instruction on how to maintain proper stretching, make positive postural changes, and implement exercises designed to assist in relieving the pain.  This makes the difference between a short-term solution and long-term relief.

Ask about Experience, Training and Success Rate

When calling around, find out if he/she has direct experience in treating soft tissue injuries.  Discover if the therapist is used to working with exact diagnosis from physicians.  Is the therapist comfortable working on shoulders, necks and backs or is the therapist confined to working with one body part due to lack of experience?  What kind of success rate does the treatment provide?  Is the therapist able to execute trigger point therapy, deep tissue massage, and on-site massage?  Are you able to contact references?   All of these questions weed out the novice therapists from the seasoned veterans. To find a massage therapist right for you, call our Texas neuromuscular treatment center today!
